  • Enterprise Week

    All the children took part in our Enterprise Week to raise money to support Peter Kaira, a child we sponsor in Malawi. Each class was given £20:00 and they used this to purchase ingredients to make Easter produce to sell on stalls at our Enterprise Market. The children made an incredible £162:27 profit!

    All the children and staff had a fun day during our 'Wear a Hat to School Day' and raised an amazing £250.40 for the SPTA Foundation Fund. Well done everyone!

  • Rowena Academy to become a Teaching School

    We are delighted to announce that Rowena Academy has been selected by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) to become a national teaching school. Rowena Academy is to be paired with The Vale Primary Academy in Knottingley within a Teaching School Alliance.

    Teaching Schools take a leading role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession, identifying leadership potential and providing support for other schools. 

    Rowena Academy was one of only 200 schools in England to be granted

  • Youth Sports Trust Silver Quality Mark

    We are delighted to announce that Rowena Academy has been awarded the Youth Sports Trust Silver Quality Mark for Physical Education. Youth Sports Trust works with primary schools to raise standards and achievements in physical education. The Quality Mark is recognition of the high quality PE, physical activity, school sport and clubs that we deliver at Rowena Academy. A huge thanks to Mrs Webster for all the hard work she does as our P.E Co-ordinator in organising all our clubs and P.E activities.

  • Wear a Hat to School Day

    All the children and staff came to school wearing hats for the day to raise money to continue to sponsor Peter Kaira in Malawi through the charity Action Aid. The event raised an amazing £254.14!! Well done everyone.

    The children had a fun non-uniform day with many children dressing up in their favourite fancy dress costumes and raised an amazing £436.62 for Children in Need.

  • Samaritan's Purse Shoebox Appeal

    A huge thank you to everyone who filled a shoebox for the Samaritan's Purse Appeal. We sent 30 shoeboxes to different parts of the world to children who are less fortunate than us.

  • Ofsted Outstanding 2013

    Following our recent Inspection which judged the Academy to be outstanding in all areas we are delighted to announce that Rowena Academy has been placed on the Ofsted list of Outstanding Providers for 2013. This is an excellent achievement and is an outcome that staff, governors, parents and pupils should all be proud of.

  • Academy Arts Project

    17th July 2013

    As part of our Artsmark Gold application and our community project work Miss Grain from De Warenne Academy's art department spent three days working with the nusery and reception classes to produce two giant sized elephants for the Outdoor Play Area.

    The children painted sections of the elephant before adding layers of patterned tissue paper to create a patchwork effect. The finished elephants were then varnished ready to be displayed as part of the academy's outdoor play areas. It was a fantastic opportunit

  • Pyjama Day - A visit from the Civic Mayor

    The children and staff held a Pyjama Day to raise funds for the Charities of the Civic Mayor. The Civic Mayor visited the Academy for an Assembly to collect a cheque for £100 and to thank the children for their fundraising efforts. She even came in her pyjamas!!

  • Visit from the Civic Mayor

    The Civic Mayor visited the Academy for an Assembly to thank the children for their fundraising efforts for the Charities of the Civic Mayor.

  • Chinese New Year Festival Day

    11th February 2013

    The children enjoyed a whole Academy focus day based on a wealth of activities related to The Chinese New Year. Each class worked collaboratively on a class Chinese Dragon. All these dragons performed the Dragon Dance in a special Assembly at the end of the day.

  • 20MPH Road Safety Campaign

    18th January 2013

    A huge thank you to everyone who supported Caroline Flint's campaign to reduce the speed limit outside our school to 20 mph and signed our petition. We collected 472 signatures!!

    A big thank you also to our parent volunteers who helped with collecting signatures.
