Academy Arts Project

17th July 2013

As part of our Artsmark Gold application and our community project work Miss Grain from De Warenne Academy's art department spent three days working with the nusery and reception classes to produce two giant sized elephants for the Outdoor Play Area.

The children painted sections of the elephant before adding layers of patterned tissue paper to create a patchwork effect. The finished elephants were then varnished ready to be displayed as part of the academy's outdoor play areas. It was a fantastic opportunity for the two SPTA academies to work together and allowed pupils to create a lasting legacy of their time in the reception and nursery classes before moving on to the next stage of their education at Rowena. A huge thank you to Miss Grain for all her help and support.

Keep your eye out for our two new elephants!!!
